There are some other “wildcat” 6.5 on the .30-30

But none with as large a capacity as the 6.5 GNR. It’s maxed out! The .30-30 case is strong, available, and a perfect capacity for good burn with proper powders in the handgun single shot barrel.

If you like to tinker with 6.5 it’s a great platform. The varied .225 Win. Based 6.5’s are also running behind the 6.5 GNR. The .225 is very close to the .30-30 in size. I’ve made .225’s from .30-30’s.

Bullet selection is critical with .264 bullets. I personally have experienced 100 gr. Core-lock bullets blow up on game with the smaller 6.5 Raptor on the .204 Ruger case (2400 fps). There is no reason to think they’d do different pushed faster! The more robust bullets are well suited, provided they are not so tough they don’t open up and blow through like a FMJ.

But with a burst of 6.5 popularity things should only get better and a much wider selection of projectiles.
