try several loads shown in the loading manuals and you

will find a load that you and your gun likes. Alcorn is a Swift A Frame fan, while my favorite bullets are the Sierra bullets. Being weaned on the Super Vel 44 Magnum 180 grain bullet I found long ago that in most cases I can do just as well with the light to medium weight bullets as I could with a heavy bullet and have less recoil and less back thrust on my elbow and my gun. For that reason I never use the real heavy bullets. In 44 Mag I seldom go over 260 grain bullets. In a 41 GNR I always use one of the 210 or 220 grain Silhouette bullets and in most cases one shot will do the trick if I do my part.

The only time I use a heavy bullet is in my Encore for dangerous game. My Cape Buffalo was taken with one shot in the 450 GNR and a 500 grain soft point .458 caliber bullet.
Again my personal preference only. Try different loads and you will find a load that you and your 44 like.
