I would use the heavier bullets for hogs and deer.

You want the penetration. The 125 gr. bullets slow down real quickly.

I was with a good friend when he shot a deer with his .357 rifle, a nice Whitetail buck. He used factory 140 gr. JHP. One shot. The deer was down within 30 yards or so.
