Was out working up a load for my 500 gnr using hs-6. Velocity was where I wanted but the cases came out very sooty and just covered in black. The cases came out very easy and no indication of high pressure that I could see. Just wondering if that's normal for hs-6 at higher levels( took it to 17.0 @ 1153 avg 3 shots with a 375 gr cast.) Or do I need to use a different powder.
Also shot some imr 4227 which came out clean. Is this normal with hs-6?

Pressure very low and cases don't expand to seal...

And...That's a very sturdy case which worsens...

Should I abandon hs-6 and stick with 4227

I see HS-6 is between Unique and Blue Dot / 2400 etc.

- I lean on 231/HP38, Titegroup and Unique in big cases... - Huey, 2019-12-26, 09:57
