the Banshees and Raptors are having a resurgence

in popularity these days. Actually this is normal as we get closer to our varmint seasons. They would be good for bigger critters too. Al Goerg took 2 bears in one day with the 22 K-Hornet which is less power than the 240 Banshee or the 255 Banshee. So they would be fine for larger animals with proper bullet placement.

This past fall we built several of the 7mm Raptors and 30 Raptors, both of which are amazingly powerful, at least enough for just about any whitetail or mule deer. My favorite has been the 257 Raptor with the 7mm Raptor a close second. I put down a Watusi cow that was giving the folks at Wilderness a bit of trouble a while back with a hot loaded 257 Raptor. After a bit she managed to struggle to her feet and rather than having a wounded critter running around I put her down for keeps with the 429 GNR. In the skinning shed I saw that I had pulled the bullet a bit to one side, just stunning her. Again with proper bullet placement she wouldn't have got back up.
