After I grew up and moved out my father kept them for years. We lived in an urban area so the gatherings was quite varied and the Honey very dark and rich. But the gatherings where also few and far between and we had to supplement with sugar water during parts of the year. Location is is everything. I found it to be very fun rewarding and fascinating
