and snowing like hell now. I imagine I will reach my max before the gun does. It is still shooting the 350, 400 and 500 grain bullets all in the same hole at 25. It is extremely accurate but pounds hell out of me. It is letting me know I am not as young as I once was. I am about 2 grains over the 45-70 max with a 500 grain bullet in a Ruger #1. So it is a thumper. We may also be right at the max the gun can take without opening up on me or destroying the scope. We are now down to a bit under 4 weeks before we leave so I may leave it at that. Between 1850 and 1900 with a 500 grain solid should kill anything I need to kill. Whatever twist your 45-70 is will be fine for the 450 GNR.
