A tale of a 629 and a broken nose

What started this conversation with my friend was a conversation he’d had with a guide out west. That guide said if he were taking a handgun into the back county, he would not do a chest holster. Years earlier he’d had a client who took a 629 to his beak when his horse got unruly. Made me think.
And in the boondocks I don’t know that I want a handgun attached at my waist or on my belt - as it could interfere with a pack or movements required in and around camp. So, I’m thinking a shoulder holster or tanker might be better than chest, but even that - like anything and everything else - is a compromise.
