That was a bad time. I was on the high rear seat

with Puffy. We were about 45 miles out of camp when it started raining. The temp dropped big time into the 40 degree range. We were both soaked in just a few minutes sitting on the rear high seat. The temp was supposed to be in the upper 70s all day but the weather dropped in just a few minutes. John was driving the Land Cruiser and knew we were both hurting. He tried to get back to camp as fast as possible but the road was dirt and gravel and there was no speeding. By the time he got us to camp I had lost all feeling and my vision. Puffy had lost the feeling in his legs. I had lost all movement in my body. When they got us to camp they had to lift me off the high seat and get me inside. They pretty much covered me with hot wet compresses. It was over an hour before I could talk or even know where we were.
Hypothermia is not something to mess with.
