It appears that winter is about to take a stranglehold on the state of Maine. We have a nice base of snow, and the temperatures will soon plummet for the upcoming weekend.
I did not use snowshoes as the snow wasn't too deep as well as I know I would be in a large bog with plenty of brush.
Since I was somewhat hopeful to see a snowshoe hare I carried my Ruger Mk 4 LITE with a small red dot sight on it. I did realize that there are limitations with such as sighting system in the snowy bogs of north central Maine.
It got snow on it. Thus I had to clear the tiny lens area. I do believe that in the future I need to have some sort of covering for it.
One other thing, I bought a Carhart Rain Defender zip up hooded sweatshirt. I kind of like it but to be honest, it isn't all that great for hunting in snow covered brush. It did get a tad soaked and I started to get a chill at the end of my sojourn through the peat bogs.
Maybe the next paycheck will focus on a good Johnson Woolen Mills green wool plaid jacket. Wool is where it is at in snowy Maine.
