Rick Ocasek, lead singer of the Cars, dead at 75. Those of you that went wild in the 80s will remember the Cars.

I remember his girlfriend , his music......no thanks

played a lot of their stuff. Don't know anything about Ocasek's girlfriend but their music was popular. He was older than I thought at 75.

Gary, did music disappear in the 1960s? (50 y. ago?)

a change about every 10 or 12 years or so. The music of the late 50s and early 60s was termed rock but was more pop. The British invasion of the mid 60s changed everything with the Beathes and the stones and all the rest. Then into the late 60s we had Easy Rider and psychedelic rock. Into the mid 70 we got what I used to call head banger music or heavy metal. Late 70s and into the 80s we have electronic rock that eased into disco. Then from there it changed again as it always does. By the mid 80s I had retired from radio so I wasn't up on it as much as I had in the past. Either way, it's only rock & roll, and I like it.

I agree. Tastes and such vary wildly...

I really like 70s music even though a child of the 80s. Never ceases to amaze me how much 70s music ends up in movies, commercials, etc.

Yeah you remember Paulina Porizkova the model, they married

And have two sons. My wife was enamored with their relationship when Paulina told the press that Ocasek used to let her lie on the sofa while he used cotton balls to remove her modeling makeup for her. A gentile act of love and kindness that must have resonated. I guess I need to try that one!

Sadly they separated out of the press limelight about a year before he died.
