I was curious about real handgun performance specs

with the .366 GNR from a 13+2" barrel. I remember Gary saying the 9.3X74R was really hot from a Hunting handgun. The "rifle" specs on the old Rimmed Ctg. is a 286 gr. at around 2350 fps. I have shot a 8 lb. rifle and it is pretty salty, on par with a .300 mag. or so. Pressures are listed just under 50k psi too. But the case head area is pretty small compared to some. Should be lower bolt thrust forces.

What FPS do the working loads generate in the TC Handgun? I figure recoil is on par with my .378 GNR handgun and 260 gr. at 2300 fps?

The Encore I used in Africa was 12” including the brake

So 10” of barrel I was getting 2150fps with 286gr and 2275fps with 250gr.
I get 2650fps ish with 18” and no brake with the 250gr accubond in my carbine G2

Roman was really pushing that 9X39mm round

to play with. Russia's answer to the .300 AAC for suppressed applications full auto. Not really fitting with my sporting uses. I already have an example of the former. Most loads seem to shoot a big .366" bullet at 1050 fps. Not sure how much more you could do with even a 250 gr. or so. The Makarov pistol bullets so loaded sounded entertaining.

Sounds easy to load enough, neck up a 7.62x39 to .366". 1/2 oz. cast bullets would be fun and would have little blast. I'm just a mean old daddy and hard sell.

In my 15" barrel

250gr Accubond:
IMR 3031-59.0= 2480, you can go a little higher but watch for pressure signs.
RE15 - 63.0 = 2365

286gr SP:
IMR 3031- 59.0= 2350

325gr ORYX
IMR3031- 56.0= 2200+
And was very accurate for a heavy hitter.

Great information... I shoot the 9.3x74R from a rifle and pondered it from a handgun.

Not sure about case capacities but the .405 case

necked to .366 has got to be close to the 9.3x74R. I know straightening the case walls and a sharp neck to enhance burn performance. The trick thing about both is the body is not all that big in diameter. This really helps with the surface area putting pressure on the breachface. Only so many pounds for the square inch available. Compared to say a .45/70 or .348 case head area. I don;t fully understand all the dynamics but I now less is better for the TC chassis. My FA2008 is very limited as to how big a case it can manage due to the top locking bolt.

Those powders selected to burn great in a shorter barrel would really be a boon for your rifle loads.

I also shoot the 9.3x54r in a double rifle and

use 56-58gr of RL15 depending on bullet. Not sure of the ballistics though. My rifle is 6 lbs, 7 with scope and kicks not bad.
