Any suggestions on years (new is ok too) / versions that make nice shooters? Just put 40 rds through a friend's Browning @ 25 and 50 yds and had a blast!

I bought my son a Henry 22 for Christmas

As it was on his wish list. It is a real tack driver, has a great short throw action and fun to shoot. I am thinking about getting their Small Game Rifle for myself.

there are a lot of real good 22s out there. I

would go with the Browning or Marlin if you want a lever gun. I would never own a Henry.

I have the Marlin, the Win 9422 and actually wore out a Henry. I agree with Gary, yes Henry fixed it without hesitation but it just didn't last...

A while back I was looking for a Rossi 62 pump

A copy of the Winchester gallery pump .22 with a hammer like they used to have at County Fair and such. After lots of looking I actually found a REAL Winchester M62A for about the same money as the Rossi's were bringing. I got lucky, Blessed really, and I was/am delighted. The Winchester has some pitting on the outside due to case storage, which ruined it collectors value, but did not hurt it's shooting at all. I was delighted.

We have a Browning BL22 grade II that is modern in design but all steel and walnut. They are often overlooked. The wife ad kids love it. Lots of great deals out there and the search is half the fun.

I'd never intentionally hurt anyone's feelings over their favorite guns. The Henry's I've shot did well. The mechanical construction is basically a stintered metal shroud over the inner-workings. I think Erma and Ithica had the basic design imported from Germany back in the 70's (Model 72?). I do really admire the guy that owns Henry, seems legit to me and is very Patriotic. They stand behind their products. Benjamin was given one as
a gift, it feeds and shoots well. Also a rubber o-ring holds the mag tubes in place largely. That won't last too long so get a couple extra Henry lovers. Enjoy your piece, run what you brung.

Very over looked is the BL-22 Grade II

I am picking up a 39A after work if delivered to my LGS. I believe it is a 64 model. I know a dude with a Winchester 22 WMR model 288?. Looks like hell. But I would like to get it for less than the 400 he is asking.

I came across a rossi takedown model of their copy of a gallery gun some years back that was a real orphan, dirty, in the back of someones shop. I bought it, soaked it in cleaner, and use it for fun shooting. I love the pump action, it is as fast as my ruger if i work my arm quickly, and i conjure up a vision of the little bears going back and forth as i shoot the target as they did years ago. where did my youth go?

I can say that my Marlin 881 bolt will stand ...
