but I thought I would rejoin the Misfits and ask for some input. One of my sons asked my thoughts on a revolver that he can carry concealed, carry while working on the farm, and carry all day while walking the woods here in PA. He asked my thoughts on the Ruger GP100 in .44 Special and the M69 S&W. I told him to buy both, but he can only afford one at this time. I told him he can't really go wrong either way, but if it were me I would probably pick the Ruger mostly because I have always had a love for a .44 Special. Anything that needs to be shot based on his criteria can be handled with a 3" .44 Special. I told him he can always shoot .44 Specials in the Smith too, so buy whatever he wants enjoy it.... and buy the other one later. What do you folks think?

I really like that new uber light 6- shot S&W .44 Mag.

I forget the name, PD? Anyway I'd not like to shoot ANY .44 Mag. out of one but .44 Specials at under 1000 fps should be fine. I hate to admit it but I kind of like an old .357 for general walking around the farm too. I'm not really a fan of it much otherwise. It is handy and the .38 Special thing.

I have the 4" Reeder ElDiablo for that .44 Special duty and service. I've even carried it across the country packing as my CCW. He can't go wrong with the GP or M69 anyway.

I have one of these,WB. Scandium frame and titanium cylinder.
It's incredibly light (25.2 0z.s). I haven't tried 44 special yet, but with mag ammo it tries to unscrew your hand from the
wrist! I put X-frame rubber grips on it.

I think the 44 special would be fine

for carrying. I am a 41 kind of person. I also like the .357 mag/38 special. I am saying this in believing angry bears are not to be warded off. But any loaded gun on your person is better than one at the house.
If you hand load a hot 44 special with a hard cast pill will handle most black bears at a reasonable range.
