Turning the rims on 38 Special down to .414" turned out to be child's play. Chuck the case in a $20 Walmart drill and using a file goes really quick.

In case you're scratching your head, there is a reason....

My 38 Super Trail Gun is going back for a 9mm and 38 Special cylinder.

Turning the rims down slightly will enable the use of my New Model gun. The .414" rim is .01" smaller than my 40 S&W or 10mm Trail Gun.

The 38 Special cylinder will be just as strong as the 38 Super, allowing the use of 30,000 psi ammo. This will mimic the old 38-44 pretty danged close. The barrel slugged. 356" so shooting .358" cast bullets should produce fantastic accuracy.

I can easily make 100 cases an hour, so a supply won't be difficult to accumulate. This will be one versatile Trail Gun...

Huey, you've got too much time on your hands

How do you think of all these innovations?

Well, I averaged 87 hours a week working in 2018...

So, I don't think too much time is an issue. But, I suppose I do ponder stuff to do too often.

I'm sure Gary cringes every time I call with a new idea.

Fascinating, what about the LG primers....?

Lol, didn’t those cases use large pistol primers? I intended to speak to Dave Manson about a reamer hand tool to convert small pockets to large. I don’t really see what trouble one could get into. Hey for no more money than we are spending it keeps us out of unhealthy mischief. Really speaking for myself!

38 spl uses small pistol primers

I think, maybe the Ancient .38-44 HD used LG in their cases?
