He still has some deals, he pays shipping!

Pre-1900 Reeder Custom Colt Pocket .32 - $385

Taurus Snubby .44 Special - $445

S&W Reeder Custom M&P 5" .38 Special - $435

Lip biting original Colt New Service .44-40 5.5" - $625

Custom Reeder Encore Beast .500 Nitro Express w/2.5x Weaver and custom Laminated stocks (most of the skin & blood removed from scope bell) - $950

In Doug's defense the pictures spun on me too. I had to open them in "Paint" spin them 360, and re-save them. He needs to learn how to turn his iPod to take the picture knowing it's gonna flip the pic on him. Also, I just noticed how much he sure favors his Granny.

sell some of your excess guns you could go with Doug. You can always replace the guns. Africa may not be open for hunting a few years from now.

Amen! Have been to RSA 3 Times...

doesn't get much better than that. Kase and Colleen have been with me to Africa. So for the Reeder clan it is a family thing. I wish I could go with Colleen to the Africa hunt in a couple of months but somebody has to be here to run the gun shop and 2 machine shops plus a gazillion Jack Russells. But April 2020 is my turn again.

for this last Africa hunt last April I sold about a

dozen of my own guns. Most were serial number 1. I also sold my favorite 44 Auto Mag, one of only 350 B models made. But I took 4 animals I had been wanting to take. And 3 of the 4 went #1 in Safari Club. I had looked over probably 30 Cape Buffalo before I pulled the trigger on this one and John Abraham, my PH and close friend, told me before I pulled the trigger that he would rank #1, so that made it all the more special. He ranked #1 free range handgun Cape Buffalo and all I have to do is look at the pictures and I don't miss the guns a bit. I can always replace them if I decide to.450 GNR, 500 grain Hornady DGX bullet, one shot put him down, the second kept him down at about 40 yards.

I also was lucky enough to take a Red Lechwe at almost 190 yards with the 310 GNR..one shot.

A Bontebok..one shot also with the 310 GNR at about 75 yards.

and a Tsessebe..pulled the shot on him trying to rush. Him him too far back. Took another to put him down. 310 GNR and 60 yards first shot, 20 yards second shot.

I hadn't planned on the Tsessebe, the Bontebok or the lechwe but they are 3 of the rarest handgun trophies there are, so what the heck. It's only money.

Gary, does that fill your bucket list?

around with John, my PH and we just spend time talking like old friends do. On the last hunt I was under the weather one day and John and I just sat around the camp and talked about Africa.

Even the Jack Russells knew I wasn't up to par that day and they hung around my feet all day.

If we see something that is record book, (John won't let me shoot anything that is not top 3 in the world or better) then we do a stalk and see if we can get it. If not, no big deal. I do sorta have the hots for a tuskless elephant. There are some permits given out each year. They are usually gay males that have probably been using Gillette products and are showing their feminine side and don't have tusks. They are freaks and the game departments want to get them out of the gene pool so they issue a few permits every year. They are full size elephants but don't have any tusks. Anyway that has peaked my interest a bit.

I would take a shot at a Suni if I spotted a good one. That would give me the Mini 5, sort of like the Big 5, except they are all small critters, usually under 15 lbs.

I don't have the hots for a lion or leopard for some reason. The leopard would probably be $25,000 for a good one and the Lion twice that. A sable is nice but not worth $10,000. A roan is ugly to me, like an immature Sable. A rhino is out of the question. And I just don't see killing something just for the sake of killing it. Other than some monkeys and a baboon or two I think all the 60 or so animals I have taken in Africa were eaten by the villagers. And that is the way it should be. So we shall see. The 2020 hunt should be a good one. My 15th safari and probably my last one so I am sure John will talk me into something unusual. Hopefully I can talk Larry Farley into making the hunt. Larry has been on just about every hunt I have made since the early 70s. Sometimes the planning is just as much fun as the hunt itself...well almost.

Great pics, greater memories...

but I just dropped a wad on a 27-2. . .

I have a weakness for old Colts... love the patina.

That one is interesting as it has the wood service grips and earlier flat latch so to speak. The .44-40 is a less common cambering too. I'd love to slide some pin gauges through it. Just to know.

LGS has a "customized" 44-40 New Service

with a shortened barrel (4") on consignment for like $1000. Doug's sounds like a much better deal. Sounds like you need it Scott. . .

He bought it just to torment me, it's served it's purpose.
