which guns to take to Africa. She is going down to Phoenix Friday morning to register her guns with U.S. Customs and now she has to make up her mind. The guns she wants to take she has taken critters in Africa and elsewhere with them so they are a known factor. But she has narrowed it down to 5, of which she can take 3.
Her choices are ...
1. A Colt Sauer in 300 Win Mag I gave her for her first African trip...

2. a custom Ruger #1 in 30-06 which she took an entire herd of monkeys with..

3. Her 458, which I built for her for her first African trip. She has taken a few critters with it including a big buffalo..

4. She also likes her African Classic in 275 Rigby. Nothing with it yet.
But nice gun and caliber.

5. #5 is actually 3 guns. She wants to use a handgun too and is deciding between a custom G-2 in 310 GNR (the same gun I used for plains game in Africa last spring), a 338 GNR on a G-2. She has taken a good sized Cinnamon bear with the 338 GNR in a Contender, and a 378 GNR on a G-2.

Decisions decisions.

300 win mag definitely, G2 378 GNR, 458 win only if she is going to hunt dangerous game, if not hunting dangerous game 275 Rigby. When I could still shoot a rifle, I did a lot of killing with 7X57, including antelope and elk.

she is going down to Customs in Phoenix

tomorrow and taking 5 guns with her.
1. 30-06
2. 300 Win Mag
3. 458
4. 275 Rigby
5. 310 GNR on a G-2
Final decision between now and the 16th when she flies to Dallas with all the paperwork.

FWIW.....my vote would be the 300, 7x57
