Would any of you make this trade??

Been pondering trading my 4 5/8" Super Black Hawk for a 4" Red Hawk. Why?? No particular reason, really, just because I guess. I know the RH can handle pretty heavy loads but that's not why I want one however. If I need heavy loads I'll just step up to my .454. A new RH is about $1,000, so I'd have to pony up some cash. Or should I just be satisfied with what I have and be grateful I have it. SBH is in MINT CONDITION with very, very few rounds through it (under 100). The more I think about it I realize I really can't justify the trade but can't stop thinking about it. It would mostly be for "bear protection" while in the west. hiking, camping and trout fishing. I know the chances of a bear/mountain lion encounter are slim, slimmer and no chance at all but you can't not think about it and you should be somewhat prepared. Hottest load the RH would probably ever see would be 240-300 gr factory loads, JHP or hard cast.

If the RH floats your boat, get it. I don't think you need to justify it one way or the other. If that were the case, most of us would have a few less firearms! Just realize it won't kill a bear any deader than the BH would.

Which feels more comfy in your hand???? That should help? RH can be heavy after an all day Carry vs a BH ...my 2 cents

BH is a SA, RH is a DA..the only advantage that matters any.

Getting a second shot or more, can be crucial and while a double action is faster most times.. If the load is causing a lot of recoil it makes it more difficult to get off that 2nd or 3rd shot. Maybe I missed the caliber choice. I was thinking 44 mag? If so, I would reccomend some A Frames first and the Garrett defender loads for that short barrel.

I have a SRH..

Ruger Toklat, .454 Casull with 5" barrel.

Don't trade. Save for the RH.

8 bucks? Wow! I quit either January '14 or '15.

seller's/trader's remorse can set in quickly. If I gave up Starbucks/coffee shops the Red Hawk could be mine by this time next year, I have plenty of guns so I'm in no hurry.

YOU REALLY NEED HELP!
