As to musicians or actors. There are, of course exceptions, but stereotypical speaking they are not "smart" as to common sense. Why anyone would listen to their political views in the first place is beyond me.
I saw a documentary featuring Jimmy Page. Within his area of expertise I was very impressed at his true passion and knowledge, much less skill, in a specific type of music. Provided he sticks to that I'm very impressed.
Willie has written some good songs and I can take or leave his quirky personal style singing them. He pretty much needs to stick to that. His personal lifestyle, much less veiled Communist leanings, leave lots to be desired. Things like this cannot help but leave an impression on my musical enjoyment. I grew up listening to Elton John snappy tunes but as I grew older and understood things better it sadly tarnished my ability to listen to his work. I sure can't buy it. But that's my personal views, and you are free to differ.

for someone from that funky little island. We had him in concert when he had the Yellow Brick Road album out and I was surprised how conservative he was. He talked about how England was getting so screwed up (back in '73) and how we here in the states needed to watch out or we would be full of liberals in our government in a few years. Little did he know. He is gay as a 3 dollar bill but still conservative which I can respect.
