Took both apart and polished the internal shiny and slick. Polished small parts, flutes, lock notches and various misc. areas of the guns.

The springs were a little soft under the rear sights. So I trimmed base pin latch springs and firmed them up.

The brushed finish was all completely redone. Ruger tends to leave brush marks going every which way. Especially where the barrel and frame meet. With a little time this can be corrected using various grit ladies nail buffers.

For my factory guns. Gary makes my Single Action grips. But, no customs for the Rogers without a grip frame. So, I snag nice ones when I can...

To pee. I do that too, but rarely post about it. Your point is well taken though. I took the whole day off to shoot and work on guns.

in a paper bag where the wannabe gunsmith has taken it totally apart and can't get it back together, or in worse cases he has forced the parts back in and has gouged and damaged the gun. We have 2 or 3 guns right now back at the manufacturer to fix and put back together.

When I was around 16 I had a Colt Challenger .22

The cheaper version of the Huntsman. Wonderful little .22 auto. You can pretty easily figure how to slip the slide off the frame for cleaning, but it has this little button on top. It sticks up and even has little ridges on it for traction with the thumb. I had pushed it before and nothing happened. But never with the slide off the frame.

I took it to the local Gunsmith (Orville Sutton a great man RIP) in a cigar box. Orville took out his pipe, scraped it with his pocket knife and beat it on his shoe. "Colt .22?" Yes Sir. "You pushed the button didn't you?" Yes Sir. All he said was "Yep".

That cost me $17.50 when I was making $2.65 an hour. I learned a much more valuable lesson.

I certainly dont recommend anyone doing this...

But common sense should always prevail.

When I was a young fellow, I enjoyed watching Evil Kenevil do his stunts. He never recommended me doing it and I had enough sense not to try it.

We are big boys, can pay the piper when we screw up.

silver receiver and deluxe wood and the moron that traded it in had butchered every one of the screw heads and when trying to loosen the tang screw had let the screwdriver slip and gouged the wood. Then he blamed it on his 11 year old kid. He ended up getting about half of what he normally would due to these things.
