HELLO, WONDERFUL FRIENDS AND FAMILY, yesterday, August 10th, we arrived back at Allison's house after 4 days in ICU after an extensive and complicated surgery following her 8 months of chemo and radiation...her FABULOUS surgeon, Dr. Ramamoorthy, and her incredible Team operated on Allie this past Tuesday evening for almost 4 hours... they completed Dr. R's goal of re-connecting the ostomy at her upper colon, removed an 8cm tumor remaining in her lower colon, removed her ovaries and tubes, removed 8 inches of her colon that did not "look healthy', and put in an iliostomy at her upper small intestine... Dr. R's skill in robotic surgery is unparalled in her field @ UCSD Jacob Center... she worked miracles with Allison as Dr. Leichman had done with his potent chemo regimen and Dr. Simpson with his precision radiation treatments... we couldn't be MORE thankful for them AND to ALL of you who joined this arduous journey providing your personal encouragement to Allison, continual prayers, phone calls, personal notes, personal gifts that were meaningful for Allison, and , last but not least, financial support through these past 9 months when Allison has been unable to work and , as we all know, insurance never covers all that is required to survive her stage 4 cancer diagnosis!! Charlie and i join Allison in our profound THANKS for ALL you have done to support us in so many many ways, we will always remember your generousity and true affection and caring for Allison.. now we await the pathology report, Dr. Leichman will have that report in about 2 weeks and we are hoping that no more chemo will be required while she recovers and awaits what we hope will be her last surgery this December..that surgery will be to remove any tumors left on her liver and re-connect her iliostomy at the small intestine...i know you all join us in praying for her steady recovery, again, we THANK YOU, and hope to see you all for happy times ahead,
Charlei

Rough ordeal, but sure sounding good...

Simply amazing what they can do these days. We tend to focus on the bad advancing, but plenty of good technology too.

Great news, praying for the best.
