Any of you folks have any suggestions on a starting load for a 200 grain LBT in a 356 GNR ?

if it is in a revolver, make sure it is not too long

to fit in the cylinder. 18 or 19 grains of 296 or H-110 would be a good place to start.

Crimped in the second cannelure, I have .050" measured with a depth mic from front of cylinder to tip of bullet. [image]

Second photo is tow dummy rounds. On the left is 158gr Hornady XTP and on right is the 200gr LBT WLNGC from Cast Performance.[image]

I like, with a 180 gr., 20.0 gr. 4227. So

That gives me an idea where I'd start. Also I like using magnum pistol primers. It's not a max load. I'd figure 17-18 gr. of the same would be a safe beginning load. Cast bullets are lots more forgiving as to pressure spikes. However you need to take note of bullet pull during recoil. Some of the GNR rounds sacrifice neck length for the sake of performance with lighter bullets. I've not had any issues with the 180 gr. at all in my Blackhawk. Look at .357 Maximum loads for the revolver, back off a bit and try a few. That should prove safe.

Thanks Guys,
I'm usually more into speed but wanted to try the heavier lead in case I need to stop one of our damn Grizzlies while I am bow-hunting. I will be putting a pretty aggressive crimp on these to make sure they don't move under recoil.
