guns a while back to sell. He had a couple of Dominators, one in 308 and the other in 7-08. my guys bought them. Don't know if they have had the courage to shoot them yet.

Hal Swiggett loaned me his 7-08 Dominator

With a muzzle brake it was not bad. Basically duplicated the 270 in a rifle. Hal had anumber of loads that would shoot under 1 inch at a hundred yards.

back in the mid to late 80s we sold quite a few Dominators

in my shop in Florida, mostly in 308 and 7-08. One hardy soul had his rechambered to 7-08 Improved. At that time we were taking 10 or 12 handgun hunters up to Tellico Junction in Tennessee about every 8 weeks. We sold a lot of Auto Mags, Grizzlys, Dominators and a lot of big calibers in the Dan Wesson Super Mags. The Auto mags shown were 41 and 44. The Dan Wessons were 375 Super Mag and 445 Super mag. The Grizzlys were 45 Win Mag and 44 Magnum. Most of the guys that went to Tellico with us used Contenders. These were the other guys. Good times.

hoping to find one of the 41 Auto Mags. That was always my favorite of the Auto Mags. I have taken more game with one of mine that should be allowed, from turkeys, to skunks to whitetail deer and Palmetto hogs. But in a weak moment I sold it to a friend who promised to sell it back to me if he ever decided to sell it. About 2 weeks later I heard he sold it to buy a boat or some other foolish thing. So one day I hope to find someone that has one to sell or even better trade for a real nice custom gun. We'll see.

I am kicking myself in the dupa

for not having bought at least three of the Dominator kits back in the 1980's.

I was dissuaded on hearing that the recoil was akin to a medieval torture and it was a pain to reload.

Now it seems they have a cult following and a resurgence.
