Colleen was on a trip to a dog show this past 5 days and also spent some time with a slide and frame manufacturer for our own 1911s. She also talked to a barrel manufacturer. The gun below is sort of a "trial" 1911. A gun to see if this is what we want. As it is sort of a one of a kind experimental pistol, I decided to do something a bit different. This will probably never be an actual series as it took way too long to do the engraving, but here is our Sidewinder.

Looks like this table answered my question. Not much additional velocity gained with a 7 inch barrel verses a 6 inch barrel.

planning stages. Probably 6". I like the 7" but none of the barrel makers wants to tool up to make them.
