It is chambered in 357 Magnum with an extra cylinder in 356 GNR. It has a 4" barrel and is fitted with the Mongolian stag grips on the Gunfighter grip. It has the Positive Performance Package. It has the interchangeable blade front sight system and he went with the gold but added the red and green fiber optic blades also. It is finished in the deluxe Black Chromex with gold accents. Another really nice El Diablo.

I sent in SBH for the ultimate 45 conversion with 5 shot cylinder, could I also add a 455 GNR cylinder to it?

sure, no problem

The .356 GNR is a really neat caliber.

Basically gives you .357 Maximum performance in a stock chassis gun. Likely one of the cheapest ways to get into the GNR proprietary cartridge game. That and the .41 GNR. Just re-chamber a stock .357 or .41 and get a set of reloading dies.

The old .38 cal. is a much bigger killer than one may first realize. Now there must be some rational thinking, and D.B. Wesson did take Moose with the .357. Good thing he did not encounter a large Bear however! I will never forget how Doug shot clean through a Nilgai chest to backbone and out, with a 5" .38 Special and 125 gr. FN cast bullet! I saw it with my own eyes. A finisher shot.

Wesson shot a Grizzly, a Moose and one or two

other big animals with one of the first S&W 8" 357 Magnums off the line way back when. The only thing I can say is the 357 Mag ammo must have been hotter than Hell's hinges back then. I have shot several deer with a Colt Python with what I considered a hot round back in the early 70s and they ran off in just about every case, even with a point of shoulder shot. After spending hours tracking the deer and putting them down I gave up on the 357 Magnum and stayed with my 30 Herrett and S&W 44 Magnum.

The 356 GNR, as Scotty said is a different story all together. I have taken Nilgai with it, one shot, cow Bison, one shot, Yak bull and a bunch of whitetail deer with one shot each. It is like a lightning strike on deer. The 180 grain 357 caliber silhouette bullet will equal the ballistics of the 180 grain 44 mag bullet. That is what I use almost exclusively in the 356 GNR.

Another unique thing I found in .356 GNR

was the wonderful metering and temperature stable 4227 powder gives performance equal to H110/W296 in the .356 GNR. Usually it is a little behind in fps, not so with the .356 GNR.

D.B. Wesson used cast 158 gr. SWC bullets I believe. And yes I read they were way hot! In the big frame M27 that was of little concern other than beating out (6) stuck cartridges.

My favorite bullets when I was toying with the .357 in High School was the 140 gr. Speer JHP and 146 gr. Half Jacket, they were tops. It was much later Federal came out with a 180 gr. JHP. I had a 8" Python and thought it was a cannon. lol It did shoot with many rifles to about 150 yds.

Gary, that 180gr Silhouette bullet is the Sierra?

I still use Sierra bullets more than any other for my personal hunting with a revolver.

That thing is FAT!!!!
