I don't know if anyone remembers but back a couple of years ago I posted about being given a 24" 6mm-06 encore barrel from T&C fox ridge custom shop. I know gary said the 240 weatherby was too much for the encore but basically the 6-06 is just a 240 without the belt and a different neck. So now I just got the latest handloader mag. And lane simpson has a review of the exact setup I have except mines 24". He lists loads that are 240 weatherby charges. Anyone got any ideas on this? Was the problem with the weatherby being the hot weatherby factory loads? Or is the small difference in neck make a difference? This barrel was made by T&C custom shop but I asked them back then and just got the we have no data. This barrel has just sit in the safe and I've been trying to find out what the deal is on safe loads (don't want to hurt my frame) but I would really like to use it. So any ideas on loads or anything would be greatly appreciated since this has been a very confusing caliber.

these are starting loads. Work up slow watching for

It's great to finally have some data for this wildcat.Maybe i can get a good load worked up for antelope this fall. I know you mentioned a while ago about frame stretching or opening and the 240 weatherby being too much for the encore action and since most of the 6-06 data is basically 240 weatherby data that was where I was confused. Just curious was the problem with the 240 weatherby (besides the belted case) the hot weatherby/norma factory ammo? I know the factory weatherby loads are loaded way hotter than even the nosler custom and federal loaded weatherby shells (at least in my mark v's in 257 and 300)so was thinking maybe that was where the problem came from?

I really don't know. I just know the fellow that used to run

the TC Custom Shop, Ernie French, was my hunting buddy and he mentioned to me several times to stay away from the WSMs, WSSMs, Ultra Mags, Weatherbys and other high pressure cartridges in the encore. The main weakness is there is no locking lug holding the gun together like on a bolt action rifle. So any high pressure round could cause lots of problems in the TCs.
