I have one in 3x15 and 5x25. My next one will be a 2-10 on a bolt gun.

A direction I would not consider on my own. So the 30mm does not seem bulky? Surely it aids rigidity.

30mm also allows more light transfer to your eye

for a brighter image and it also allows for more windage and elevation adjustment range over the 1" tube..and more strength too as you stated. That's why all the long range scopes are mostly 30mm and lately 34mm...to get that extra elev/windage adjustment.

A fun little drill I want to try is a soda can

at 200 yds. with the .416. My current scope the crosshairs almost totally cover it up. It would be just luck, I can't see it that well. That got me to thinking. If I wanted to try a smaller animal at 300 with the rig I'd be in the same situation. A deer at 200 would be about as small as I could manage under normal conditions and the scope is barely adequate for that. If you can't be sure of your shot you should not take it no matter who is pressuring you, and you DO get pressured in the field.

IF, and I mean if, I can go to more scope without undue bulk, and fit it between those wide 6" rings, where I can still use the eye relief, I might really be onto something I like. Just a fun little exercise.

Blake, how do you like the 5-25 in a 30mm tube, I am looking

at one now but haven't decided. is the light gathering ability that much greater that the 1 in tubes ?

I really like the veracity scopes

As far as the 30 mm tubes go where you really notice it is in the clarity at high magnification, not so much different at low light to my eyes. I wear bifocals so being able to fully adjust the target and reticule is a must. The higher power scopes are big but that’s ok on that type of rig. The 2-10 is small enough to tote around all day and has 3.5 to 4.5 of eye releaf Enough for large calibers. The 5-25 is on my 257GNR rifle and the 3-15 is on a 22” 366GNR rifle. Both Encores.
