I've finally gotten to stretch the scoped revolver to 100 yards. I've got a steel plate that's roughly 8" x 18" that I use to get the kids shooting in the shoulder to heart zone on a deer. I was able to hit that repeatedly from the bench. I'm really jazzed with how much I'm enjoying this gun. The muzzle break really tames this 44 Mag.

Last time out I shot absolutely all my loaded ammo. All my reloading stuff is boxed up at the moment due to some home remodeling (that includes a small reloading/gun room). So I bought two boxes of Federal 240s to shoot. The advertised velocity is something like 1250 fps. These clocked 1375 fps average from my 6 inch gun. The spread was tight. The bullets stayed on that steel plate (well, all but a few). I'm very happy with the this off the shelf ammo. Its available anywhere. The POI is close enough to my 300 gr loads, too. My next step is to load some 200 gr bullets. I want to go light and fast. So, I'm shopping around for those now. Any suggestions are welcome.

my Grocery clerk money ($85 wk), I bought a .44 Super Blackhawk. Couldn't afford a $350 S&W in the wood box. My $175 red box Ruger was the Cannon! I first coveted a box of (20) Norma steel jacket "Peterson Polar Bear" loads. Then Federal came out with a 180 gr. .44 Mag. Load featuring Serria JHC bullets at lightning speeds! I could not afford many at $12.50/20 but I savored each thundering shot. Later I ordered some bullets myself ($9/100) and using 2400 ran the manual max load showing 1700 fps from a gun same as mine. Still have that manual/load somewhere. Good memories.

Gus, it is real hard to beat the Sierra 180g

it can be loaded all the way up to the speeds of the Super Vel ammo of old. Plus it is a very good preforming bullet. I would expect you to see at least 1600 out of a 6 in

The sounds fun and likely something I will try.

180s around 1600 or 200s around 1500 would make me happy.
