new rules and regs in Africa for 2018

They have a new president and he is rough on outsiders coming into the country. The new rules that effect us are the handgun rule changes. All handguns must have a scope attached to it. All handguns must have at least an 8" barrel. Each hunter bringing a handgun or handguns must have a letter from the manufacturer saying it was built solely as a hunting handgun. Anne at Air2000, who gets our handgun permits for us said if I did any work on the gun I can do the paperwork for the hunter so he won't have the hassle of trying to get Ruger, TC, S&W etc to sign off on it. They would probably do it but it would have to go thru their company lawyer and take a year to do so. This way I can do the paperwork myself and get it done immediately.

It sounds a bit more rough than it really is. Having to replace my revolver barrel with an 8" barrel is minor stuff. I sure won't let a little something like that stop me from enjoying and hunting Africa.
