I just make sure there is no cleaning media in the flash hole, thst it is visually open and clean and press on. Not loading for benchrest.

. . . then resize. Thus you run clean brass thru your dies, and the decapping pin in the sizing die removes any tumbling media from the flash holes.

A secondary feature is that you don't deposit primer & powder residue all over your press.

Could be wrong. Only been doing it that way for over fifty years.

through a tumbler. The pockets are usually pretty clean. I do have a couple of primer pocket brushes at hand in case. I don't remember ever using a scribe.

before cleaning and then tumble in SS pins with Dawn and Lemonshine. Cleans primer pockets and everything better than new.
