JUST LOST OUR ROYAL & ANCIENT BLOODHOUND SALLY TO EHRLICHIA - A TICK BORNE DISEASE
I HAD NEVER HEAR OF IT TIL TODAY
SHE WAS BLIND IN ONE EYE & ALMOST TOOTHLESS BUT OTHERWISE IN PRETTY GOOD HEALTH CONSIDERING HER AGE - PROBABLY AROUND 12
SHE WAS A REAL SWEETHEART
DAMN STUFF KILLED HER IN ABOUT TWO WEEKS

Jim, sorry, not easy. Be well my friend .

ARE ANOTHER PROBLEM ALTOGETHER - WHILE I HAVE SOFTENED MY STANCE ON THEM CONSIDERABLY OVER THE YEARS THEY STILL ONLY GET ONE CHANCE AROUND HERE -- THE FIRT TIME I SEE THEM TORTURING A CHIPMUNK OR THE FIRST PILE OF RED FEATHERS (CARDINALS SEEM TO BE THE FIRST TYPE THEY KILL) I FIND THE IMAM IN CHARGE (ME) IMMEDIATELY ISSUES A FATWA AND THEY (NORMALLY) ARE NOT LONG FOR THIS WORLD
IF THEY BEHAVE & TARGET THE MICE PRIMARILY -- THEY CAN STAY
GOT FIVE OUTDOOR CABINS FOR CATS & FIVE INDOOR FOR DOGS
RIGHT NOW WE'RE ABOUT TO BE OVERRUN WITH COONS -- OUR 2-3 MOMMAS ALL HAD 3-5 & THEY ARE RAMPAGING LIKE MONKEYS
FUNNY AS ALL GET OUT
THINKING ABOUT GETTING SOME MORE DUCKS SO I CAN SEE WE ARE GOING TO HAVE TO MAKE SOME CHANGES

Sorry Buck that's like loosing a child, I know.

THERE WASNT A HUGE EMOTIONAL ATTACHMENT - SHE WAS JUST ANOTHER STRAY THAT WANDERED UP OUT OF THE JUNGLE ABOUT 7 YEARS AGO - ALREADY BATTERED & BEAT UP AT THAT POINT

IT WAS TERRIBLE TO WATCH WHAT THAT STUFF DID TO HER
WE TOOK HER TO THE DOC TWO WEEKS AGO & HE THOUGHT SHE JUST HAD A TOOTH INFECTION - DIDNT DO LOTS OF TESTING & GAVE HER SOME ANTIBIOTICS - CLENDA SOMETHING
THAT KNOCKED HER DIGESTIVE SYSTEM OUT OF KILTER & BY THE TIME HE TESTED HER THOROUGHLY SHE JUST CRASHED & BURNED
SHE WAS A TRULY SWEET OLD THING & DIDNT DESERVE THAT KIND OF ENDING - I'M ABOUT DONE WITH THE STRAY RESCUE THING -- GETTING TIRED OF SAVING THEM & THEN WATCHING THEM DIE A FEW YEARS LATER --
AND ALSO WE HAD DONE THE BRAVECTA TREATMENT & USED TICK CRYSTALS OUT THE WAZOO & THE DAMN THINGS STILL GOT TO HER
REALLY HATE TO GO BACK TO THE PLACE WHERE I PICK THEM OFF BEFORE THEY GET CLOSE TO THE HOUSE BUT I'M RAPIDLY APPROACHING THAT MINDSET I'M AFRAID

It's a good thing to take in an old one.

You provide a safe, comfortable home for them in their final years. It hurts when they go, but remember how content they were while with you.

THANKS FOR THE REMINDER

-- I THINK WE DID THE RIGHT THING -- SHE GOT FAT & SASSY
CAN'T ASK FOR MUCH MORE THAN THAT

Got that right. One of our adoptees . . .

. . . was a totally deaf 20-year-old kitty. She didn't know she was that old. She only came in the house when it was supper time and lap time, or it was below zero outside. And she was a superb mouser.

She lived another five or six years, and then one day she just dropped dead. No lingering agonies. Wish they could all go like that. But it was a tough day for us.

Tick born illnesses are real killers. So sorry for your loss
