modification but do not know which revolver I should use. I like the .22 frames as they fit my hand better and are easier on my wrists.

Gary should be wrapping up my 218 Bee Trail Gun

from a Ruger Single 9 (22 WMR) donor. I need a 218 Bee fireforming barrel to prep brass for the new arrival. I have about 200-250 formed Bee cases from 32-20 that need to be blown out. My Trail Gun is a done deal, as far as I understand. I'm in the queue and holding....

You really do need it professionally done.

Someone needs to have a "rougher" reamer to get it mostly opened up to dimensions. Close counts with their use. This takes a lot of wear off the "finisher" reamer. One could use a finisher but it sure would put a lot of wear on the tool. You'd have to stop and clean it a bazillion times and keep it from getting too hot. That's really too much metal to remove in one pass and ensure a clean final chamber to specs. Every time a reamer is used it is a teeny tiny smaller for the next "hole", until it's out of spec.

It seems a simple thing to do but it's more complex than one may think. If you can find a .22 LR or WMR tube for less than say $200 it would still be worth it.

The old 10" octagon barrels are of a special liking to me.

Should be .224" bore. The only exception I know of is...

The 22 LR "Match" barrels that were a bit tighter.

Not sure how heavy of a bullet it'll stabilize. But, that's irrelevant anyway.

Since a .22 WMR is 40 gr. at 1900 fps

what's a 45 gr. at 500-600 more fps? Surely it will be fine. The heavier bullets past 50 gr. don;t expand as well anyway and slow the works. A hot 40 gr. like the Nosler is fantastic and speedy too.

Same twist as the old centerfires, usually 1 in 16"...

I've shot lots of 50 grn bullets and 40 grn BT, etc. Usually the 50+ grn poly tips not so much. Its actually bullet length that gets you.
