Flat topped 22 lr and coyote?

I have Monday and Tuesday off from the school so the plan is to go out into the wilds and see what I can do.

Cottontails and gray squirrels are open but so aren't fox and coyote this time of year.

I wonder how a modified 22 lr would work on a coyote? Just curious as to the effect.

Excited to know. I made a few for a neighbor and he is

It's a .22 LR, the standard will do. It's not really great but will do, given the precise accuracy possible. Even a .22 WMR rifle (40 gr. at 2000 fps) it's not a cannon, sure better than a .22 LR.

In a handgun the difference in much less divided.

Still, the flat topping gives the old .22 LR more of an advantage. Just like my beloved flat nosed cast handgun bullets over the old school RNL. It does wonders in comparison. The flat nose pushes a shock wave in front if it allowing a more clear and straight path. I've proven to myself that energy transfer is greater also.

I need to buy some more soap and shoot. I am playing with the scalloped nose .22 LR std. vel., FT, and RNL. I took a dremel and made those side cuts like the fluid dynamic ammo that is currently in vogue. For $5 and an afternoon's entertainment, it's cheap.

Are you concerned with not trimmng the bullet

In a balanced manner as to influence bullet stability and flight path? Does a little trim here and there equal the same weight loss concentricity?

That's pretty much a fallacy, its the butt, not the front.

A crooked nose makes no mostly matter at all. Try it yourself. A uniform exhaust of the gasses from the muzzle as the bullet base exits DOES make a huge difference in straight flight.

Now I'm not speaking about benchrest competition, I can't shoot that good. But common plinking you can't really tell.

I was saying I'd prefer a good .22 K-Hornet or .218 Bee.

A 40 gr. at closer to 3000 fps would be better for Coyote.

I am lookng forward to getting a Bee.....

It's sort of a bigger Hornet. Stock up on brass.

I'm real gentile on my hulls in my M43 rifle. It locks a the back of the bolt and is not very strong. But I do get 2500 fps from my own cast 45 gr. HPGC bullets. It shoots under 2" at 100 yds., usually 150. About 3" at 200 yds. when I do my best. I need to get a better scope, but that gun platform was never a tack driver. I guess it's really good for cast bullets though.

I think an improved version would be better. I really like the K-Hornet over the standard. I mean who would want a reg. Hornet after working with the K!

Hornady making 218 Bee brass now...

Shot 2 back in the fall. One ran about 50 yds and dead the other made it maybe 10 feet. Not big but both dead with one shot to the bread basket. If I can find the pics I will add them.

and yes, used the FT tool for those.

A guy pulls up with a cooler, opens the top and there's a whole skinned and cleaned coyote inside. They make it into some tomatillos and stuff. Episode is "The Bronx" from 2016. It's the first segment of the show.
