guitar man plus a good friend. He would come in our shop in Sarasota with another studio guitar player Scottie Aikenhead. Although Dickie was famous he just never seemed to get the real fame he deserved. His fame was sort of on and off thing with this group and then another group. At one time I thought he and Greg Allman would get back together in a group but Greg died before that could happen.

Dickie had some little thing in his past that didn't allow him to buy a gun but he still liked to look at them and handle them. He also got into fly fishing for a while.

Every time Scottie had a chance he would bring in someone special that was a good friend of his who was in the music business. He would always tell them our shop was the place to hang out. Scottie also died a couple of years back. Seems like every time I look at the news another good friend is gone. God bless you Dickie.

For those not familiar with Dickie Betts he was the lead

Gregg Alman's autobiography "My Cross to Bear". We have hours of audio tape of interviews with Gregg, Dickie was mentioned in many of the stories. The book was a great read. We were sent an autographed copy which I treasure.

Wow, Greg didn't have an easy life, father died young, etc.
