If it didn't we would have a lot more stabbings with ice picks.

- you can carry more of them than a large fixed blade or folder
- easier to hide that the larger blades
- don't weigh as much so more comfortable
- easier to use than a knife as you won't cut yourself as easily when stabbing something
- easier for a small or weaker person to use than a big blade
- cheaper than the larger knives

That matters as gravity counts and a tall person would have more gravitational pull on the bullet plus you forgot to add in the mass (and mess) of the bullet after it hits the pervert.
