Beginning the search for a solid/reliable 9mm 1911.

Interested in makes & models that are built correctly with proper materials & no MIM parts.

Most likely standard or LW Commander configuration.

Thank you.

I would go with Rock Island.

parts. There is nothing wrong with MIM parts. They are not made out of compressed cat shit. MIM is simply Metal Infused Molding. It is still all steel, nothing inferior at all and nothing lacking in strength. It is just a less expensive way of casting non important parts. Some know it alls on the internet got the crap started that MIM parts were inferior. Probably the same idiot that started the crap that if your Marlin didn't have the JM proof mark it was no good.
Anyway, the MIM parts are just as strong as standard steel parts so don't get your panties in a wad.

Kind of reminds me of when guys

We’re calling cast metal pistol and revolver frames junk and insisted on the better quality of forged frames.

I have experienced failure of MIM parts.

you dont hear very much about that problem...this is the first ive seen it mentioned and there are a hell of a lot of newer ruger s/a in use and most people don't baby them.

The transfer bar is not a MIM part. It is just a

casting. I have seen them snap in half also and when I changed them I noticed small gas bubbles in the metal. Just a rough casting but the ones I saw were not a MIM part.

You are correct Gary..MIM is plenty strong enough

in the locations its being used. The majority of gun manufacturers have engineers and testing labs to ensure reliability of their parts and build to a specification that meets the needs. Too many knuckleheads spewing nonsense.

I can vouch for the RIA

I have a Springfield Armory Rangemaster full size 1911 in 9mm and a lightweight commander size Ronin in 9mm and I've been very happy with both of them. Ruger would also be a good choice...

Does Springfield use MIM internals?
