gone off halfcocked? I no use for him but feel for the loss and injured plus they will back down as low on the responsible ring as they can to find someone to blame, right or wrong just pass the buck

the gun was a single action revolver, a Colt clone

probably one of the Uberti guns. A gun with a lot of wear on it could feasibly go off from half cock if the trigger is pulled hard. but in most cases the hammer fall from half cock wouldn't be hard enough to fire the round. Maybe dimple the primer but doubtful it would fire. The gun had to be at full cock (in most cases) for it to fire. And even as dumb as he is he or whomever handed it to him would have noticed that it was cocked. No, he is just looking for someone to blame.

Colt clones and old model Rugers than I do told me that they will fire if the trigger is pulled from a half cock. So now we know.

My thought is

I did not follow any of this other than reading on this forum. What comes to mind for me is everyone on that set was under the direction of one or more people. Someone had to order the firearms to be used on the movie just like the clothes or animals or even where they made the movie. And certainly, someone or more than one was in charge of safety. How would a firearm enter the set without being checked as to be safe is someone's fault besides Baldwin? So, someone handed him a loaded gun, or he loaded it himself. I know prop guns maybe loaded with powder to show smoke and flame, but I would think they all would be checked by several people for safety. The Brandon Lee 44 Mag. was supposed to be safe also. And I think they said the wax bullet was powerful enough to kill him. So, it will be up to the courts to decide what happened and who was at fault. Surely it should have never happened. Maybe Hollywood had better change how they do things. Car wrecks, explosions, firearms, and all the stunts. Nobody can just act anymore. But that is what sales and makes the money. Entertainment.

Ed, that is what has been in the news for the past several

weeks, how the experts that take care of the guns could have mixed up real ammo that was not supposed to be in the gun. The blame has gone from the armorers, to the shooter to the gun handlers and so on. Even the head man was said to hand the gun to Baldwin saying it was a "cold" unloaded gun. So there has been plenty of people accused in this but the blame sits on Baldwin, where it should be. That single action gun had to be a loaded gun and someone had to cock the gun, maybe half cock, before handing it to Baldwin, who then pointed it and pulled the trigger.

I have never been around and old model--- he pulled

that Baldwin said the gun was cocked and he released the hammer an just "let it go". No transfer bar and BANG is my thinking.

Took this long to be “coached”

On the workings of a saa or clone. If you watch the interview,he explains that the director wanted to rehearse a shot of him cocking the gun. He explains he started to cock the gun and asked how’s this, then a little more ,how’s this? To not fully cocked, where he was told that’s good where he released the hammer causing the gun to fire. My opinion is his lawyers coached him exactly how you can have a SA fire unintentionally and that’s what he “acted” in his interview

I put 6 primed pieces of brass in it and pointed it at a post. Tried to pull back on the hammer and let it slip. Once you reach half cock it locks in place. If I pull back and release it before full cock it stops at half cock position. I can let it slip just before reaching half cock but it is a very short drop and the cylinder has not been fully rotated into firing position so the hammer strike is between chambers. The big deal is If I have my finger on the trigger with just slight pressure fully cocking the hammer it drops as soon as I take my thumb off and kaboom, primer fires every time.
