OK, does the Ruger SBH fall into the "stronger than a model 29" category? Would most likely use 255-300 gr. hard cast in it. My model 29 is a -3 I believe, prior to any performance packages from the factory.

In the early 1960s Elmer Keith reported on a torture test between a Ruger Super Blackhawk and a Smith & Wesson Model 29. The Ruger blew the Smith stretched. Now having said this I would never subject any of my Smith & Wesson 44 Magnum loads I use in the Ruger Super Blackhawk.
To quote Mr. JT. The Smith is a thoroughbred, the Ruger is a

stretched wouldn't that make the Smith stronger in theory?
I personally wouldn't shoot anything bigger or hotter than a standard factory 240 gr. load, JHP or JSP. My Ruger, 300 gr hard cast.
IT AIN'T NECESSARILY SO

Blackhawk frame long enough for the Garret cartridges and you will have enough horsepower for anything, Redhawk if you must have double action. Personally I've got both, and the 4 in S&W is more than enough.
