Hey guys,I've got some sierra silhouette 250 gr.fpj #8615 I'm wanting to load in my 44 mags, does anyone have a good recipe for these I'd like to try to take some hogs and bear with them...I have a super blackhawk with 4 5/8" barrel and just got the smith model 69 with 4 1/4" barrel I'd like to try them in....thanks a bunch in advance

Hard to go wrong with Unique or 296

I burn a good bit of 9-10grs unique under 240-250 grain bullets, cast or jacketed. It will go clean thru our deer and hogs in South Alabama. If you just want to go full-throttle, WW296 or H100 is the secret fuel.

I have used pretty much nothing but silhouette

bullets for the last 35 years and they work perfectly on really large game the size of bull elk or Bison. But on hogs or black bear they will go thru them like an ice pick and not do hardly any internal damage as the bullet is almost a full metal jacket with that little lead exposed at the nose. I don't recommend them for those animals. For hogs or black bears you need a good JSP that will expand and do a lot of internal damage.

I afraid to say this but, the Smith 69 is my favorite

44 mag,., and I have several 44's. I carry it deer hunting when I'm in the thickets. Very accurate. Mine likes a full load of H110 behind a 180 grain. I have not shot the silhouette but it's so accurate with the 180 grains, why change. You can't go wrong with H110 or W296. Just don't download those powders. They like to be a little bit compressed.
