Old Elmer still carries a lot weight when it comes to being famous and I think that's great, glad that he hasn't been forgotten. I would love to own one of his guns and I wouldn't care which one it was.

In 1975 my dad and I were at Champlin Arms when Mr. Keith picked up his 338/378 KT rifle. He had on his big Stetson hat and asked me if I hunted. I said with all 3 weapons. He asked me what I hunted with rifle and pistol, I said the only big game we have in MS is Whitetail deer.

Wow that had to have been pretty cool! I bet he had his 4" 29 on him somewhere I heard he never went anywhere without it. That .338/.378 KT is quite the round, way ahead of it's time,I think his wife even elk hunted with one! No muzzle brake needed. I need to go to Champlin some day just to look, it's only about 75 miles north of me.

I read about that in one of your recent articles, sounded like quite a trip you went on! I wonder if he ever messed with a model 58? I like mine better than the 57 I had. I'm sure he liked the adjustable sight 57 better because of how far he could shoot.
