The conditions were perfect for the animals. No hunting pressure in 2020, record rainfall in the desert, very ample grass and browse. I went over thinking all my shots would be under 100 yards. Boy was that a mistake. The shots started at 200 and went up from there. That’s why you see the rifle in most of the pics. The bird was the exception. That stalk should have been on Sports Center. We shot that ostrich on the run, hence the long furrow!

I should point out that the rifle I used on all my animals except the ostrich, was a Ruger MKII in 375 Ruger. I had it loaded with Hawk 270 grain spritzers at 2650 FPS. I know, bring enough gun. The pistol is a Reeder African Classic with 8 1/2 “ barrel in 500 Linebaugh. I loaded my own cast 400 grain WFP at 1400 FPS. They didn’t bounce off the ostrich...
