Reeder Custom Guns - custom mauser

I recently picked up a custom mauser 98 in .358? standard length action I think it is 358 norma have to do a chamber cast underside of barrel is marked c.358 n.d.g does anyone have any info there is no other markings on rifle this rifle is higher end build and work very high grade wood 5 leaf island to 500yards g&howe quick detach scope mount etc. I know you guys on here have alot of knowledge thanks

Sounds like a mighty fine rifle. The 358 Norma will get up there with the 375 H&H. The early 35s got a bad wrap. People tried to load them using the bullets intended for the 35 Remington. The thin jacket caused them to fail. These days excellent bullets are available.

The 308 Norma was a popular builds too. Most on the 03 Springfield so the original barrel could be rechambered.

To gunsmiths to promote the cartridges. The Belted Cartridges were then what the Creedmoor Cartridges are today.

a 308 Norma on a Springfield 03-A3. Let me know what you find out about it. I have shot both quite a bit. The 358, I shoot a Speer 250gr at about 2800 fps.
