KY Deer Season
The Kentucky modern firearms deer season came to a close today. From all indications, the rut was past it's prime when our season opened on the 14th and the overall numbers for the state reflect that. I only saw three bucks during the last two weeks, a spike, a four point, and a small six or eight. My time hunting was limited this year for several reasons, but the good Lord blessed me with the opportunity to harvest a couple of does.
The first was taken with a AR chambered in 6.5 Grendel at a distance of 225 yards using a 129 grain Hornady SP.
The second was taken with my BFR chambered in 44 magnum at a distance of 95 yards using a 240 grain Speer Deep Curl JSP.
Both deer harvested were donated to Hunters for the Hunger which provides fresh meat to our local food banks.
