Too many in academia are far to the left. They impress upon young minds that government is the end all of things.
Too many believe that a socialist system will create a paradise on earth.
They believe they will have some position of authority. Of course they are fooled.

Third day of protests here. Last night protests at the Walmart was organized by a local church. That church is a bit outside town but they have a sizeable parking lot for a gathering. They didn't gather there. They chose a high traffic area on a high traffic road so their protest would get (their word) "visibity".
Can't help but think they considered the possibility that "outside agitators" would inevitably show up and Walmart has insurance so...
