I ordered 50 for plinking and he advised the 435gr hc . I order some full strength 500 max’s which are 525 gr with 38 grains of AA1680.
I miss the Saturday sale! Looked forward to seeing what was on the menu that week. Still haven’t shot either load but plan on it soon. [image]

I would highly recommend you set aside the

full power loads and just use the plinking load. Also Bob at Co. Custom Cartridges is a good friend but he is not a shooter of large cartridges. The "plinking" load should be the 350 grain bullet over 10 or 12 grains of Trail Boss. That is still more punch than the 44 Magnum.

All of us here on the forum have tried to warn you about the top end loads of 500 Max so you are on your own. The recoil of the cartridge is so harsh that we will no longer make any of our revolvers in the 475 Max or the 500 Max.

You know that will shoot .510 GNR or .500 LB etc.

Lots of options to download. The Trail Boss loads should be great and still have enough power to kill about anything.

WB is right. Get some 510 GNR or 500 Linebaugh from Bob at

Co. Cust. Cartridges. They will probably be all the fun you can stand.

Just tell Bob what you want, he can do it.

HEAVY RECOILING HANDGUNS BUT THE .500 MAXXXXXXIMUM REQUIRED SO MUCH CONCENTRATION AND STRENGTH IT MADE ME PHYSICALLY ILL.

I love the 500 Maximum.

I've never been able to afford one, but every one that I've shot, makes me love it more.

Yes there are physical limitations with full house loads, but it handloads easily. One friend has one and shoots 435's at 1250.
When I asked why, he replied "It does it a 45 colt standard pressures. the gun should last forever."

That combined with additional firearm weight, makes this level of load a pleasure to shoot.

Not trying to be contrary, but the Horsepower is there if you want it, but you don't need to use it everyday. Much like having a hi performance car. Hellcat, Hennessy Vette, or a big Cummins in your pickup. Normal use never uses the speed or horsepower, but it's nice to know you CAN go there if you want to.

Some shooters haven't realized that yet. I was one of them for many years. Only skillful practice will improve skill. Overmuch pain creates painfully bad habits.
