I try to shoot at my local range every Friday and Sunday morning. I mostly shoot single actions and for reason a bunch of SASS guys also hassle me about joining their competitions. This morning I was shooting my Reeder Oytlaw 44 spc and fellow has to check out my guns. I rarely take fewer than 4-5 a session and just play around. This fellow went right into how I would not be able to use this gun in SASS. I just said, I had ZERO intentions of trying and he appeared dumbfounded. Then he says to me, if I want to sell it, hes interested. LOL. Kind of ruins my morning of fun.

Kase and I used to do gun shows in Phoenix and Tucson

and the SASS people would come to our table and badger us about advertising in their newsletter. i told them when they OK our custom guns for the cowboy shooting then I will advertise. They quit coming by.

Curious as to why they wouldn't be "legal"

SASS probably doesn't like the more modern sights.

SASS doesn't like anything that wasn't on the original guns

125 years ago. A fellow i know that we built a couple of cowboy guns for told me that if you went to a SASS match wearing a T-shirt and jeans they wouldn't let you shoot. You have to dress in authentic clothes of that period and use authentic guns of that period.

YES AUTHENTIC GUNS LIKE

SASS got rolling. We did it back in '90 or so and all proceeds went to charity. We dressed up as near to what we thought cowboys and saloon ladies wore back then and had a lot of fun. No rules or regulations, just a lot of fun.

On occasion, I halfheartedly think about getting into SASS because I agree with the fundamental principle -- as in, it's a lot of fun to shoot cowboy guns as the cowboys shot them back in the good ol' 19th c. But then there's this stuff. Which is why I have never gotten into SASS.

Just my opinion: any organization that prioritizes "purity" and focuses its energy on weird internal doctrinal disputes instead of trying to attract new members first turns into a cult and then eventually withers away.

WHATEVER THEY SAY IT IS. THE LAST

I REMEMBER FROM 15+ YEARS AGO WAS TRIGGER JOBS WERE ABOUT ALL THAT WAS ALLOWED.

Love that gun. I just can’t understand why you are unable to use that gun at
SASS. Pete
