I was looking for an interesting hunt and many auctioned hunts go for less than full price so I joined Eastern Chapter of Wild Sheep Foundation and went to their Expo in Lancaster PA recently. This was in a Marriott, about 400 people and 65 exhibitors. Over 100 auctions in 2 days, everything from gear, inexpensive fishing trips, many US hunts, European and African hunts. A Sonoran sheep hunt in Mexico ($50K book value) went for $32K, the outfitter was one of the exhibitors.

In 2013 I went to Alaska for bear, preparing for this I bought some DVDs including one that took place on Kodiak at Rohrer Bear Camp.
Rohrer’s were exhibitors at the Lancaster show. I introduced myself to the owner and told him how much I enjoyed the DVD. He said one of the hunters from the video, Dale, would also be there. I later recognized him and introduced myself, he was very nice and invited me to sit at his table for dinner. Turns out he’d been on the Board and past President of the club Chapter. He’d hunted and fished with Rohrer’s many times.

I won the auction for Sitka deer at Rohrer’s this November or next year, less than 70% book value.
Dale also told me he was going for SE Alaska coastal black bear off a boat in June 2021 with Adams Alaskan Safaris.
Adams was also an exhibitor at the show and I signed up for this trip too.

So the show turned out much better than anticipated, I made some good contacts and I’ve got 2 Alaskan hunts to prepare for!
Thanks for reading this.

Sounds great! We have a big show coming up.

If it's the same outfit he's a real pro.

Yes, Jason was there. I talked to him a lot.

He has his own business guiding hunts and backpacking trips too. I go to church with a woman who's son is a teacher on Kodiak. I've met him and his wife. I dropped their names to Jason and he thought he recognized their names from church. Funny how small the world gets sometimes.

You won't find better

I grew up with him and his wife Kim... You can trust him with your life and he'll put you on game... . I hope he got to see his family while he was here

Trust him with my life you bet, he was a USCG Rescue Swimmer

expos there. I live about 65 miles NE of Lancaster. Ask about member Stan Boots(he may have passed on by now). He did the North American grand slam at least 4 times....think about that...its at least 300K per slam IF you succeed the first time on each of the sheep. He really loved it and was a true sheep hunter who donated a lot of money to the foundation. Owner of Merrit Seed Company in New York. Lots of great folks are members of the Eastern Chapter and all of the member outfitters are top shelf. I won a horseback pack-in camp trip into the Canadian Rockies(Wilmore Wilderness Area)for a week...took the wife and two sons aged 9 and 11 and had a hell of a good time discovering the Rockies on horses...even seen some griz and moose. An awesome vacation.

Stan did the world sheep slam at least 1x too(12 sheep)
