Been looking at these and having trouble deciding which caliber.

I am not JT even though we have often been

mistaken as twins from a different mother. My guess on the strength is the Colt is stronger. The solid frame should make a big difference. Neither is idiot proof but I have seen several Schofields come in really loose from a lot of shooting.

Huey ...I am sure you know their history ..

they were originally made for a less powerful cartridge than the .45 Colt.

And that's exactly my thought process...

I think the 45 Colt and probably the 44-40s are best left to solid frame guns.

I'm leaning heavy towards the 44 Russian or Special.

I love the old 44 Special, but don't own a 44 Russian. Always like to try out new (to me) cartridges.

The #3 Russian Model is looking mighty tempting.

44 Russian is the winner I think...

THE .45 COLT WAS WAY MORE POWERFUL!!

For reproductions, looks like the 44 Russian is as close..

As one could get to the originals...

had Clint Eastwood been born a hundred years earlier

the 45 Long Colt would have been hid "most powerful handgun in the world, well, do you feel lucky punk?"

Eastwood has gone senile! Fug him!

“Hollywood legend and longtime Republican activist Clint Eastwood has endorsed Michael Bloomberg for president, saying he was tired of the “ornery” politics of Donald Trump.

“The best thing we could do is just get Mike Bloomberg in there,” Eastwood said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal published Friday.”

unfortunately I have to agree with you. I hadn't

They think any publicly is good publicity. They'll turn to or on anyone for a few headlines.

Disappointing for everybody, I think

Sure is for me. But a fundamental -- and difficult -- rule of life is that you shouldn't confuse the art with the artist.

now now, you didn't say the replicas. You just said

Schofield or Peacemaker. Some of us are a bit addle brained and can't read minds hardly at all.

Well, even a mind reader wouldn't have much to work with me.

But, I was talking about the Uberti Reproduction Guns. Still think your answer is correct.

You can pay a pretty penny for an old Smith, you need to look for the target model or a Smith & Wesson new improved model no. 3. They have adjustable sights.

You can get a Taylor's frontier but caliber and barrel length may be difficult to find. I believe 45 LC and 44 special are your only selection. I would probably go with the 44. The modern metalergy is a plus. Adjustable sights. I think the only way to get a 44 WCF is an antique. That is what I want. They also had the 38 WCF which is another one I would like.

I believe Ciimarron also makes one with adjustable sights. Haven't looked at them yet.

I believe in 2000-2001 Smith & Wesson performance put out some. I don't know if they had adjustable sights or not. They are probably as pricey as an antique.
