using a machete you have to get close. With that I could stand back a little ways and chop. It was after I killed a Mamba with a machete that I built the spear. The Mamba raised its head to strike and somehow I was a bit quicker and chopped off its head.

I shopped the market places until I found a good Chinese-made catana (machete) that had decent steel and used the blade to make the spear.

I left it with a friend in Mozambique and it is still in use.

That case I think your handle is a little short
