the SHOT show gets dumber and dumber every year

I thought about running up there tomorrow to see a couple of old friends and do a little business. Colleen called and unlike in the past licensed manufacturers don't get a pass to get in. I have to pay the $150 a day and stand in line for 2 hours with all the doofuses that are not even in the gun business and who are getting in on their brother in law's FFL. I think I'll pass.

Doubt you're missing much...

one of the reviews on the Gunsamerica web site talks

Gary Reeder

about the new Python and how much slicker it is than the old Python and the writer gushes over every piece of the gun. One can tell that gunsamerica doesn't go into any extreme to find a good gun writer. At the bottom, this is the writer's credentials...

About the author: Levi Sim hunts every chance he gets. He’s interested in eating just about everything and doesn’t put any stock in hearsay about what’s good and what’s not. He’s perfecting a rockchuck recipe and enjoys making tasty dishes with ingredients normal people have at home. He makes a living as a professional photographer and photography instructor. Check out his work and he’d love to connect on Instagram: @outdoorslevi

MSNBC for Guns is all too common these days...

If I ever apply for a job I am gonna list that

test. I suppose you haven't tried fried possum also? Shame on you, Gunsamerica would never hire you.

will consent to having "I tasted Rockchuck...once" listed as his epitaph. Of course that is many years away so by them John may have tried fricasseed possum too.

The key is to remove the scent glands.

he scrapes off trees and eats all kinds of stuff he finds in the woods. He is not normal. But then again he lives up in the north east U.S. so that should explain some of that.

if you are going to remove the scent glands, you

that is all it is these days. The last time I had a booth

there (2000 or so) a 10' X 10' booth on an aisle was almost $8000, plus we couldn't unload our trailers as it was all union and they were the nastiest assholes I have ever met. They ordered me and Kase out of my truck after I drove it into the back of the building to the spot marked off for my booth. I got out and reached back in for my notebook and one of the union jerks yanked me back and told me not to touch anything. After some arguing he reached in and got my notebook and handed it to me. They made us stand back while they unloaded all our gear (by throwing it on the floor inside the area where the booth was to be). Then before we were allowed to go in our booth to set up I had to pay the jerk first. One more reason I really really hate unions.

Then 4 days of eating $11 cheesburgers that were made the day before and drinking soft drinks. Standing in line for 2 hours to get a taxi to take us back to our hotel at the end of each day, or walking several blocks to a parking lot where they charged us big time to park there.

All in all it was a real shitty 4 days and I haven't been back since then.

some of the things noted in that post may hav

been at the SCI show as I had a booth there just about every year for 6 or 8 years also and the experience was just as bad if not worse.

I had a list of folks I wanted to talk to at this show if

I made it there tomorrow. Folks like Steve Hornady, Dave Manson, Roy Huntington of American Handgunner/GUNS magazine, the folks at the SSK-50 booth with the new TC frames, some friends at the Ruger booth and the S&W booth, Bob Baker at the Freedom Arms booth and a few others. But I refuse to play the SHOT show's silly games. I can wait a week and call these folks and not have all the hassle.

goes by so fast. it doesn't seem like 12 years since the last Celebrity handgun Hunt, nor does it seem like almost 2 years since my last Africa hunt. We need to talk to someone to slow this time thing down. Maybe Jim Taylor knows someone.
